Should Software Developers be given an honorary Law Degree?

The amount of extra reading, Legal Reading that factors into and facilitates accepting and compreheneding license agreements is substantial. God says you reap what you sow. If you sow hours of time reading through license and legal agreements, do you get the full level of value added for time invested, including time invested in Reading Comprehension, comprehension of how humanity discounts liability and responsibility on the common?

Another thought, will Software Developers remember everything in the license agreements they read. My guess is No, and No increases with length and number of documents, complexity involved in the documents. Able to mitigate privacy and security concerns matters, becomes more difficult with increased complexity and conditionals that are soon likely to be forgotten. Add in the complexity of Artificial Intelligence and systems that move at trillions of operations per second (on normal devices, not to even mention Supercomputers and Quantum Computers) – are we moving towards describable, knowns or are we moving towards an interderministic future?

Engineers at NASA likely know how rockets fire thrust, think they claim to understand how every particle operates going outside of the exhaust of a rocket? We box complexity and comprehension in systemic comprehension based on equations that partially describe systems, physics, and engineering partial blackbox might not always be acknowledged as in by design. If you can’t verify by hand trillions of operations per second, claim we ideally comprehend verification algorithms? Bugs have potential to exist in regular development, applications, bugs have potential to exist in the verification algorithms.

If I write a program that verifies a processor adds all numbers correctly a million times by two different methods I have verified the processor works at that point in time, and I will likely use that verification and comprehension to state it is likely to work correctly when used at a later point in time. That assumption is not built upon I know the system won’t break, won’t have incomprehensible problems I can’t fully understand. Re-verification and fault tolerance matters and is not always turned up.

If humanity gave up on flight, knowledge of flight today no more bombs would be dropped on little girls.

If humanity gave up on cars today, no more accidents people ran over would happen.

Engineering choice is based upon morality and ethics or based upon throughtput?

If everyone with a car was required to deliver bottles of water and food to help the homeless one time a month, how would it change the world? If humanity chooses not to, which has shown precedent for over time, is choice in engineering based upon bettering humanity, or increasing throughput for some while not always providing adequate support for all?

If I had to give 1 hour each day of my computer cycles to curing cancer or helping solve world hunger I would. 23 hours of trillion operations per second is still allot of power. Cell phones working to solve world problems while we sleep?

I see data on Russia and USA collaboration projects yet Ukraine war is still happening? Data and news I get doesn’t seem all trustworthy. I want Peace with Russia and China, that said I don’t want that as a green light for hurting Ukraine or Taiwan. Combined with I don’t seem to get trustworthy comprehension makes the idea world peace will be sufficiently invested in unlikely.

Real comprehension matters. Venezuela is having real economic crisis or not having a real economic crisis – factors into where support is delivered or not delivered. Move towards green might not ideal oil nations, oil nations that are already having problems, problems that per Golden Rule I would not want to have myself or for others. Oil not an option could lead to cartels and cocaine, corruption seen as a greater option, with an inadequately supported border that is a problem in my opinion. With less than adequate cybersecurity, financial determinism in USA that is a problem in my opinion.

I don’t really want to trade Venezuela losses for Global Warming losses or vice versa. Will we truly invest in systemic change that profits all, gives all a valued path forward?
