Self Sufficiency in the Days of AI

Imagine you are a pioneer crossing the plains and come across a river.  The families on the trail have to group together to get across the river because there is no bridge.  Fast forward to 2025 – “Why the hell would I need your help crossing a river?  We have plenty of bridges, your support is unwanted, un-needed, is less profitable – know it, show it, owe it (be humble stay silent)”.

We might be producing a society and mentality we don’t want.  Why go into a business venture with others, a risk proposition when I don’t need a movie cast, directors, producers to produce A level content?  “AI does that for me, now why do I need you?”  The combination is not all pretty.  

The idea is engineering creates better products that enable the future in amazing ways.  Yet has smartphones, the power to access all the world’s libraries always at our finger tips really lead to ideal friendships, support, love for our neighbors, appreciation for less than Einstein, appreciation for doesn’t know that, appreciation for could of looked that up themselves but chose to ask me instead (an investment in communication belittled – not really the aim of smart phones).

Does a self sufficient world really even need me to finish writing this?  Grow apathy reduced investment in communication channels, power in self valued higher than power of others to help?  All at no cost?

Chooses to not be my reader – can’t blame people for that – lots of good content, lots of important content outside of my words.  That said, devaluing my words like they are nothing, don’t have to be heard, really how you would wish to be treated?  A Golden Rule?  We turn up self sufficiency and less golden rule without even trying to and then try to claim it doesn’t grow apathy, why bother?

Worth of note – society grows band wagon appeal and popularity, ostracizes some at times including using humor and alpha piss as a way to belittle and reduce support for others, reinforce competition, reinforce who is right and who deserves to be heard more.  The combination is consequential, it means self sufficiency is valued higher at times than a competitive system built on profit that really doesn’t care that much about you, others, investors, or consumers of the products – a march towards unchecked capitalism has problems.  If you have stock, you are an investor, a part of the team, your opinion and if you are or are not on the street matters – but if you don’t have stock, thrown to the wind will idealize trust, reinforce support for the future?

H F include as profitable and non-consequential?  Our team is really only 10s, 9s need not apply.  See the combination might not grow support in ideal directions?  Brain damage from being homeless, robbed of support on repeat – it isn’t all 10.  Forgiving a system that leaves me homeless after all that – maybe not punishing the system is part of the problem, maybe forgiveness is part of the problem.  Friended that was in the past I might see better days to sorry for my investment, it doesn’t work that way?  The persecution is over it is only bright days ahead – a nice thought, not all clean up the mess.  Maybe part of the problem is we forgive the system for being less than A in the past, yet we expect a system a system that is likely to be imperfect to be closer to A, sufficiently, fair, just, better at a future date that never arrives.  Might be less lost hope, failed expectation to know a system that is imperfect in the past, imperfect in the present, is likely to to be imperfect in the future.  Knowing a system is a B not fully an A – gives flex and leverage for grace and mercy, making exceptions – looked at as a B might actually be more A.  Odd traffic never happens, 100%, they are late, fire them – it is the way an A system works, an A system is brittle.

Seeing better days might be thought only better days are ahead, similarly bad not possible, worse definitely not possible.  Yet truthfully bad as and worse while not ideal to worry about is both possible and possibly projected based on insufficient current output.  Significant change in a valuable way could dramatically change the future for better – not to be confused with that change is guaranteed to happen, doesn’t need to be turned up, need to fixed swiftly.  Don’t go to bed angry – blessed are the peacemakers – ideally the combination should speed peacemaking yet seems to fail on repeat in this world, or maybe it is just the world loves to hold grudges and fears moving forward to truth that isn’t represented by contingent upon grudges.

Homelessness Thoughts, September 15th, 2025

I am currently in Dallas, Texas.  I have had systematic persecution and injustice for years.

How many days of bullshit homelessness would it take to stop thinking God, The Church, and Christians have one’s best interest at heart?  Golden Rule if a fellow Christian is suffering, leave them on the street, don’t fix any of the injustices that have lead to perpetuation of losses?

Is it wise to set precedent that a fellow citizen that has their ID expire shouldn’t be allowed to access their bank account, shouldn’t be allowed to get an apartment – in a World that is currently in wars that we are partially invested in?  No liquidity for me set to no big deal is not the way I wish to be treated.

I would like to think the system being a dick isn’t just a Texas thing.  If-ed liquidity, and if-ed real security – I have been robbed before, and access to attack a homeless person is grosser, easier, and likely more tempting than one might like – thoughts of Mr. Robot and the scene with the CIO beating the homeless guy.

If the problem with the Church is they don’t have empathy, can’t walk in others shoes – it might lead to feeling of precedent that what has been good enough for my life weeks homeless might be good enough for others.  While I am somewhat strong enough to handle it I would not suggest what has happened to me as good, worth turning up for other citizens, sufficient Golden Rule to not be in sin when combined with James 4:17.

If the Church can’t be trusted to do right by one of their own, really think it will stand up for you when you are persecuted, when injustice knocks at your doorstep?  Prayer starts dissolving into feeling of insufficient remedies – false carrots that don’t deliver results that are risks possibly worthy of mitigation by distance, reduced proximity.

How many days would you want your loved one if-ed on access to a bathroom?  What kind of precedent should society set?  Bathrooms and business hours – they can just shit in the trash cans?

My guess is there are people in the world that are less forgiving than me.  Claim to be an ideal peacemaker when they see the example being set of what is happening to my life?  If-ing A precedent, A Historic Precedent as useful.

A system that can’t renew my drivers license without an appointment over a month away, that blocks me from getting a passport, that leverages me homeless because I don’t have an unexpired id?  This is how society and fellow citizens should treat children of veterans?  Should the system, a system that is doing that to my life be allowed to be claimed as just, fair, or sufficient?

Blessed are the peacemakers.  Can say the fresh air has done me some good, can’t saying being if-ed on capacity to use the bathroom and robbed of a place to put my bag (forced to carry heavy weight around the city) has been ideal for my heart.  Worth trying on someone you care about?  If not, really think our society will be blessed, will be continued to be blessed when it is doing the opposite of making peace?

Given that someone in local motels was decapitated – sleeping in the park might be safer in some respects.  Someone with a BS and an MS put on the street homeless under bullshit premises and systemic design… how would politicians, lawyers, doctors, and other professionals like to have a similar experience?  We don’t grow shark culture or all is fair in love, corporations, and profit?  People that don’t respect my time, the time I have left on this earth, should not be able to claim they A-ed the Golden Rule.

Homelessness Thoughts September 14th, 2025

If a city had 40,000 homeless. What would the cost be to give them all a $250 transportation voucher? 10 million when billions go to homelessness programs doesn’t seem like too much to ask. Could use for Lyft or Uber as well as micromobility like Lime and Bird. Or even possibly used for buying an electric bike or paying car payments. Could be used for plane tickets, subway tickets, or bus tickets. The combination could be enabling in many ways.

Let’s be honest people don’t buy cars to drive the homeless around as an altruistic deed, at least most don’t. There are safety and hygienic issues as well – can’t blame someone for not wanting to drive lepers around in the same car they take their family and young children to school in.

God and Churches preach love your neighbor. Claim to love your neighbor ideally if you prevent them from transport, allow them to stagnate with less hope?

Content Creation Thoughts

Part of the value in content creation is content created today facilitates capacity tomorrow.

One engineer does nothing for a month.

Another engineer builds a car.

The engineer that builds a car now has a car to drive around in, they also now have a car that could crash, has to be parked, has to be stored.  The car has potential to be enabling, the work the engineer put in has potential to be useful for the future – yet is not a guarantee.

No car might equate to less to maintain and less to store.  The same mentality could be used to never invest.  Any document one writes today might have to be defended before others tomorrow.  Any painting one paints has potential to be misinterpreted and misused at a future date.  Investment today will less than ideally enable the future might equate to seeing zero investment, laziness, and apathy as the ideal choice.  

Less fielding of tasks is not always more capacity to field tasks in the future.  The engineer that built the car over the month has knowledge of their toolset – they know which tools work, which tools might be broken, which tools might need to be replaced.  More use, more involvement is surface area, and there is value in surface area of time and details.

The engineer that builds the car over the month period has kept up their work skills and work ethic.  Imagine another project is given to the engineer that didn’t work over a month and the one that did.  The new project will likely be easier to the one that has been recently investing time and effort.

Keeping the mind active is important – some truth to if you don’t use it you lose it.  Skills aren’t metal but they do have the potential to rust, and be less useful.  Employers likely would prefer an employee that has recently used their skills in a current project vs one that hasn’t used the relevant skill for years.  Thus skills unused rust, rust in a way that reduce their capacity to generate value and resources (the value they add to getting a paycheck).

The engineer that worked for a month also had surface area in time of solving problems, and potential for thinking of ways to improve process.  One that is not involved in the process is unlikely to be spawned and inspired to think of new an innovative ways to improve the processes and problem solving at the current time in history.  Technology and current day and age drastically change capacity – mankind has show constant precedent for swiftly changing capacity – no flight and no space travel to able to put a man on the moon, no computers to supercomputers to supercomputers enabled with AI.  Technology is progressing swiftly and recent involvement facilitates capacity to adapt and address new changes and technologies.

Thus it is wise to appreciate hard work, consistent involvement, and remind that situation and station in life can change swiftly for the better.  No jackpot to a big jackpot – breakthrough discovery or amazing update to process is possible and is always possible.  Gains are useful if one has the ability to run with them and adapt them to an ever-changing, ever-evolving future.

Reminder for Power in Non-violence

We as a society have a decision to make.  It is the same decision many societies have had to make year after year.  Do we collectively want the people with guns, authoritarian force to be what solves problems, what chooses who is right and when they are right?  I have seen many reports on violence in Dallas, Texas where I live, combined with the recent news of Charlie Kirk being murdered, as well as reminders of 9/11 I figured it was worth commenting about.

If we invest in a society that shows that communication and non-violent interaction, collective investment leads to positive change and actual power people will see it more as a viable option.  If one believes calling the cops or investing in a lawyer to draw up a lawsuit to fix problems will lead to change, change that doesn’t take years, change that won’t be prevented time after time by injustice an inaction – we collectively invest in the power in non-violent means to achieve ends.  It is also important to reinforce that access to money and resources that pays cops or lawyers salaries is not true justice, is not sufficient to be called righteous – money not seen as the only requirement to win matters and is far from ideally turned up, and less ideally turned up might lead to less true inspiration of non-violent interactions.

There likely should be a metric, a sensor, a dashboard in society that tells the level of power in non-violence means to achieve ends, to achieve results.  In a healthy, constructive society, a society that fosters respect for all voices and the value, humanization of all citizens.  I can say personally from my own perspective and experience in 2025, in Dallas, Texas – I have invested heavily in non-violent action – including humanization, generosity, prayer, and belief in positive paths towards peace – yet I feel in combination the power is lacking.  Like having a dashboard of solar panels on a cloudy day, a wind farm with millions invested and no wind.  The power exists, but requirement to rely upon God to remove the clouds, add the wind doesn’t feel all good.

The more we turn up and raise the power and awareness of nonviolence as useful the more we turn up that light and wind.  There are ways it could easily be turned down – the person is not pretty enough, the person is too annoying, the person is fat, old, aged, diseased, undesirable – all potential reasons that listening, hearing, humanizing might not sell at ideal capacity.  It would be nice if the World had a box that said safe for ages 2 to 115 – yet that is not really the World we turn up.  The more we invest in humanization, the more we invest in less than ideally desirable humanized, doesn’t have to be Einstein to be humanized the more we invest in a future that protects and humanizes all.

Peace and forgiveness sometimes resonates as bullshit in society, life, church, and religion.  A system and mindset claimed on a superficial level that doesn’t actually deliver will likely lead to less appreciation for remedies that utilize communication over authoritarian power.  A society that claims to forgive and then labels people for life in ways that hurt their capacity to live a meaningful life will resonate like bullshit and has the potential to inspire political movements that are less fair, just, and involved in equal equity.

The more we invest in non-violent means achieves results today, the more power (less clouds and active wind) we will have for tomorrow.
