I am not a lawyer. I don’t know the specifics.
4 years sounds like a long time. A long time to be next to a shiv. A long time where people could do you wrong in many ways. P Diddy is power before and likely will be a powerful person after – now with longer influences, 4 years of influences – that might not be all future leverage out.
I am a believer that just because you live through jail or prison – there is no guarantee to make you a better or stronger person. You could have a heart attack or get cancer in there – in 4 years allot can happen. Events and altercations he might or might not be apart of just by being there. Further administrations and who is in power changes in this country at the minimum of every 4 years – people could get in wars, and just decide to stop releasing people all together – less injustice over the long term is not a guarantee.
I don’t know the women’s stories in the trial and don’t want to make their lives harder. Every jail and prison is different so my thoughts might be more or less applicable. People might think taught a real lesson might be what is best for a rapper. Especially given music doesn’t always turn up ideals. Rock, Country, Pop, and Rap all blur the lines at times on acceptable, moral behavior – thus made an example of is not all pretty if that is what is actually at play.
Further society not required to change doesn’t seem all ideal while punishing him for 4 years. Will society be required to shut down strip clubs for 4 years to make sure everyone changes, society changes in ideal ways?
4 years not likely always 4 years in our prison system, that said mercy is given to the merciful – thus I hope people can find a way to forgive and move forward swiftly as the future is not guaranteed for any of us.
