Thoughts on proof reading.
I like new content. I also like content that isn’t awful, is useful in ideal ways and not useful in non ideal ways.
I can’t always tell how something will be read or used. Desire to bring peace to the World, make people’s lives better seems easy, more difficult in practice.
Build a car eventually overtime find the power in seat belts and added safety features. Are words a vehicle, do they have the potential to take you from one destination to another?
I am not religious authority. Is it wise to include religious authority in the writing process? Might have information about World events one does not have, how things might play out in non ideal ways. Religious authority might desire to divest entirely – won’t be A good, invest in a mixed line? Is it fair to even try to get religious authority to invest when the World has so many other problems. Less content creation might be less to worry about at times, though God that kick us out of Garden of Eden isn’t really you can stop sowing, stop investing in new, better, and different – stagnate does not pay the bills.
All content creation will be less than perfect. The positive is less than perfect gives an opportunity for the future to have new, different, and better that might also fall short of ideal perfection.
Stories many times will have Villains. Villains are less than ideal reminders of evil out. People might think stories with no villains are perfect, some might not. A story about a military build up with no enemy to fight?
Hard to think a story with evil and villains or no villains is perfection. Hard to think no new content, no new stories is perfection either.
Depending on World events people might not have ideal time to proof read a document – most of the time I am typing a document like this I am not interrupted – lots of things that could interrupt a document finished or proof read. Even if finished or proof read one set of eyes or even many set of eyes set to will see all combinations unwise. AI and Supercomputers might see certain bad combinations, bad combinations known might lead to bad combinations useful thus bad combinations might not always be set to known.
Also important to remember there are things that writers, including the writer of this document does not know about their own situation, place in the world, how events are playing out all over the globe – above (ISS and airliners) and in Antarctica. Translations might deliver less than ideal results to other countries in the World. Documents might add value and less than ideal value to linguistics as a whole.
I know true danger in metaphors, puns, and word play? No. Likely creates some shaky ground for documents that already exist, including religious documents that might be less than ideal. We also use acronyms potentially without always thinking about implications – for example Prolific Organization as a technology tool for organization might be set to PO, like a 5 to a 50 without even trying to. Would be nice to think one could say their ABCs and count to 10 without getting in trouble.
Worth of note humor is encouraging. Humor is sometimes encouraging to some parties and not others which is not all good. Humor has potential to flag parties – parties you want to succeed in the World in non ideal ways. Doctor laughs at wrong joke in the middle of a seminar and never gets out of med school? Thoughts on leaders, power, and people around them – a little tell is not always value added.
Stories with no humor, with all serious – likely will be somewhat humorous. They are yelling at them and you laughed? Shame…. Shame….. What is the right amount of humor? Everybody playing with each others names might be less than ideal peace made, an as I like less bombs dropping over my head I am not exactly sure what amount of humor to add and what amount of humor to refrain from.
Thoughts on cost. Turning up anything is worthy of owe, any words are worthy of owe in a World where the wrong words can’t be put in front of you, thrown on a teleprompter, be given to you before a meeting seems less than ideal. Words can’t be backspaced in a world full of typos and less than ideal proofreading is problematic. There is need for grace and forgiveness and as anyone that has gone to Church less than ideal times can tell you, it is not turned up ideally.
Turn up cost and seriousness has implications on interesting. Interesting is useful might not always equate to turning up cost and seriousness is done in the right ways. Follow a story if you don’t care about the characters? If the story is implausible, lacks seriousness will it really create concern evoke the emotions and thoughts the writer is trying to create?
Take a story about homelessness and wealth disparity for instance. Humor might give oxygen and allow people to think a situation isn’t hopeless, that bridges can still be built. That said homelessness and wealth disparity is serious – serious in a way that can cause significant problems for both the rich and the poor. Awful situations are generally not funny to be in, yet laughing and seeing the positive in the worst situations might be enough encouragement to get you through the tough days.
That is one situation where striking the right balance is usually likely to lead to a serious side chosen over humor. Now if you are writing fiction about Dragons or Vampires you want taken seriously there is investment in serious potentially humor less valued – if you laugh at the villain are you really scared of them? This is another instance where serious is turned up, serious turned up is consequential not always in ideal ways. Humor and Comedy movies might be a good offset for a world that turns up allot of serious at times.
Worthy of note if you don’t have money, and you are on the street you generally don’t have access to content, implications of created and delivered content Worldwide which might further inspire the need for greater care taken. Some people are dying in wars, some people are dying of cancer, some people are just having a bad day in ways that are unfathomable. If one had to wait for the World to be perfect no pain in the world to tell a joke likely would be less encouragement, more serious which is not all pain out.
Speaking and writing about humor might be less of a problem than actually using humor dependent upon the events of the day. Creating a serious story might be less of a problem than discussing it dependent upon the events of the day. In a World full of 8 billion people it seems likely that there are events going on somewhere in the World would not line up ideally with any delivery. My guess is less proximity is value added as far as reducing accusations and culpability. The event happens in your city, neighboring city, Allies cities might be more known by potential readers than events that might never get news coverage in countries you have never heard of – with how the World is so interconnected these days the past might have had greater reduced footprint which might have been both value added and less value added at times.
Worthy of note people care about each other, want people to see better days should not be confused with ideally invested in each others image, PR – public relations, financial well being. Hard to read documents of 8 billion people and say you did this or that wrong before it wrecks their day. Proofreading adds value, requirement for ideal value, can’t be fixed, can’t be useful or interpreted in other ways not always wise to turn up. Guarantee your translated version will have no puns, no word play?
Giving time before releasing a document might give more time for proofreading, finding typos and combinations. Giving time before releasing a document might lead to World events that make the document released earlier or later greater value added.
