Warning Christian value references – might be pertinent to international regulation
Mercy will be given to the Merciful, Forgive and you will be Forgiven – one of Christ’s teaching
If you are in a business deal and one person gets $1000 at the end of the meeting and one person gets nothing, it might be desirable to try to win and walk away with $1000 at the end.
There are many problems outside of business deals that are bigger and problematic, where the price of winning is too great.
If someone cheats with my wife (don’t have one using for example) I have two options. Be mad as hell and never forgive, or forgive and be merciful, consider how I might have added to non ideals in society that have lead to the current results. This does not make adultery ok.
If someone steals from me, I have two options. Be mad as hell and never forgive, or realize that I turn up Math through products, services, and education which turns up greed and lessons on turning down greed I have divested from, not invested in ideally might have lead to the current results. This does not make stealing ok.
Unforgiveness is consequental and has a price. If I am unforgiving in one area, others might use it as free game to not forgive me for my wrongs.
The difference is one that points fingers at others, makes results dependent upon actions of others, and one is a way to take personal accountability and realize that getting the $1000 at the end of the meeting, at the end of the day might be less than the common good.
I like mercy, I like being forgiven, I know what it feels like to feel unforgiven, can’t win mercy – future is bleak, hopeless not really ideal and I don’t want to inspire it in others.
