That said when I was out riding on the trails today I saw the following sign

I care about Defense Law though I am not a lawyer. I know laws ray less than ideally (I saw this sign on this path) yet out of all the other paths I have not seen this sign, some might exist does not equal I have seen them which if the law is meant to be no motor vehicles including e-bikes, could be adding danger. Potential for riding far then having to pedal with no motor help might not be nicest trip.

Found the following which is nice Bicycle safety (txdot.gov)

I do not see anything that lines up with the sign on the E-bike, so is a E-bike which has a motor less than 750 watts and goes 20 to 28 mph considered a motorized vehicle by this sign?

Clarification is important. Regular bicycles can go fast, really fast, and children walk on some of these trails. Further e-biking enables a lot more ground, ground that might only be open to people at higher price points – defunding freedom and mobility for those with less not all value added. Law if-ed not all gift. Add in Texas Summers and Global Warming, power to get home easier, out of the heat easier, to deliver water bottles easier potentially not always considered.

Something to keep in mind while e-biking, there are particular places on these paths that have sharp turns, under bridges, with reduced visibility close to forest area – reducing speed seems wise because can’t see what is around the corner. Long straight paths with very low traffic might lull into false sense of security.

Also some attractive people, potentially wearing skimpy clothes in the summer time – combined with out of element and motors, distance might not always be ideally discernable. Preventing crashes is valuable, knowing potential in advance could save heartache. People in the government (not me) likely know better than me if bikinis near beaches have ever lead to crashes – might be worthy of note for people with e-bikes around the beaches. Eyes on road valuable not always ideally turned up.
