Hard to be in the Present, January 23rd, 2024

It is easy to get caught up in Historic Precedent, what happened in the past and what it means. That has potential to lead to less ability to appreciate that current situation is dynamic, subject to change, that change is possible, that change might be desirable, that change has continuous ability to shift in the wrong directions.

Getting caught up in what the past means might sometimes be like looking in the rear view while trying to drive, yet many times when people are learning, they are learning based upon data and training from the past – we don’t read textbooks written on the current day usually. It might be easy to set society to past things like racism and sexism yet that is not full appreciation that it is a continuous battle. Not full appreciation that when progress isn’t being made sometimes progress is being lost.

Progress factors into Progress maintained. If I stop progressing at something like a musical instrument I might stop playing, then when I play it at a later time I will have practiced less because I was discouraged by inability to progress rather than encouraged by gains made. Gains Made factor into Future Gains Made. Gains are not always easy, continuing forward in discouraging times, times where progress might be being made yet is hard to see factors into Better Gains in the Future.

If I am a writer I might write 5000 words one day, and 5000 words the next day. I might not see the progress in my own writing that others might see. 5000 words the same as 5000 words? Impact of 5000 words after 30 days of writing – 150,000 words is allot of words to refine skills yet on day 30 one would have 5000 words same as day 1. Clarity and Impact that has potential to grow might be given up on early.

I want increased communication skills, capacity to communicate for all that don’t wish to hurt others. Powerful communication might be turned into Hate Speech or Propaganda, capacity to run Corrupt Political Campaigns and Policies. Every English teacher teaching students consider that they might be teaching the next Politicians? Think better of others, nobody has potential to become an Evil Dictator? Desire All English teachers to consider that when training their students?

Decentralized Learning is In By Design, People that might have Evil Intentions could order books to increase their skills. Putting all the burden to find and root out Evil on Teachers seems unwise. See No Evil and thinking better of others matters, finding evil paths like those that lead to corrupt dictators has shown historic precedent for amplifying less than ideally over time. Visibility is less than ideal, obfuscation is in by design, should not be equated to ideal capacity to limit, perceive, or comprehend potential threats.

Some of the more obvious threats that are in by design, have been left in by design (Arab countries allowed to be Anti-Israel, Antisemitic) – threats are known by the World, threats are not ideally or sufficiently challenged does not equate to not challenged does not equal consequential. Hard to tell English Teachers to prevent Evil Dictators when the World leaves the potential in by design. Level of problem factors into where resources are perceived to need to be delivered. The World and United Nations sets examples for English, Language Teachers.
