Regardless of how a company starts, regardless of how well-meaning people are, tech companies that are useful in peace time have potential for being useful in non-ideal insufficient ways in war time. Just because you start a company in a country that is free from oppression does not guarantee the company will stay under control of a non-oppressive regime.
What people create matters, requirements to limit in future might be less than ideal – less to deactivate might factor into more potential to deactivate other problems. Not really what entrepreneurs are always considering when creating a company – that government could turn from trustworthy to untrustworthy, from Not Nazis to Nazis as a possible system is less than encouraging.
If I want to create a company, I don’t want it to help others that might enable genocide. Seems a simple idea in theory, potentially more difficult to deliver in practice.
If I create a company named Peace and No Genocide Ever, someone might take and misuse the list of people’s name of that company. Competitive companies don’t always think about how your products might benefit the future World – Competitive companies have non ideal track record for ideal investment in Golden Rule. Companies even competitive companies Working Together to include Diversity, reduce Sexism and discriminatory practices factor matters and has potential for enabling more potential to disable if corrupted governments ever do get in charge. Impossible to Possible known is not always ideally turned up.
Profit matters less than not being taken over by Nazi or corrupted governments that dehumanize and potentially enable genocide. Profit and Funding to second priority might be put to the test – you might have no money and a dozen eggs as food for a week. Impossible to Possible known is not always a pretty thing.
Fostering open and honest conversation about the topic is not always ideally turned up, do you have a Non-Disclosure for that? Confidentiality likely not fully pondered for value added and value subtracted.
