Helping the Homeless, December 15th, 2025

If you are homeless and struggling I am sorry. I want better than that for everyone not to be confused with my ability to deliver better than that for everyone.

I was thinking being left on the streets without food in cold weather is miserable. How might society that has some extra wealth to use make life less miserable for people?

Cold weather sleeping bags might help people get through a rough patch in their lives. A good nights sleep goes along way – others more enabled with better sleep worldwide could be game changing.

A sleeping bag isn’t food, doesn’t suddenly cure all the injustices and unfair treatment. I would like to say give and you will get an overflowing cup like said in The Bible, sometimes I feel more like no good deed goes unpunished. I would prefer people to be enabled by their giving and generosity though I realize that is not always an ideal dynamic.

I might say results are a bit more arbitrary than one would like. If one gives and one doesn’t solve the underlying injustices – then the status quo is perpetuated – potentially leading to an exacerbated problem that manifests in non-ideal ways overtime. Fixing actual injustices is hard, and giving is pragmatic – live another day to see better days, until we can actually fix the problem. Yet I am not sure we are always sufficiently invested in actually fixing problems – World full of supercomputers, AI, and logic that gets us to the moon and back, and this is the best we can do?

Is commenting on the truth in it all really the higher value added system? Or better just to say seasons greetings and remind the World generosity is appreciated and needed, serves a purpose that is not always acknowledged, is unlikely to always be acknowledged. Less could be more, more could be more, I am not sure we have the right amounts – and to say generosity is non-experimental seems unwise.
