Gains in intelligence and learning seem like something always worth valuing.  That said it becomes pretty common place in life – easy to think we have seen it all seen all we will ever see.  If one lived in the time of horses and carriages to airplanes – the extreme divergence likely would give people more of an appreciation for gains are still possible always possible.

Gains still possible factors into momentum.  Keep researching if no gains are achievable, if diminishing returns are approaching the limits of useful?

Possible is power.  Problem the acknowledgment that possible is power, possible is possible might lead to less appreciation for zero sum situations.  The sun rises the sun falls in winter and it gets colder, colder makes it harder for the homeless to survive.  God can save, protect life, it is possible, that said possible might be set to less need to worry about it, less need to do anything about it.  Yet blankets distributed in advance is power – from a frozen PR stain to lives saved more days with possibility.

Artificial Intelligence is power – yet power that leaves people homeless struggling on the streets, is it real power, is it really a bridge to the future?  It might be worth pairing engineering gains to how well the least are treated in society.  No space launches without a wheelchair ramp?  Ideally wouldn’t have to pair things in a way that prevents both from being helped in more ideal ways – oxygen and freedom is power, power is not always used wisely.

Artificial Intelligence has the potential to surpass human intelligence.  I would prefer to inspire ideas and a future where the bridges, the machines of the future don’t see us all as cockroaches.  Expect machines to value us if we don’t value each other?  Expect machines to listen to us if we don’t listen to each other?

As we progress into a future with AI, supercomputers, cloud computing, and quantum computing – research gains never thought possible with a greater momentum than ever before, there is the potential for increases in learning.  There is also potential for burn out, excess, derailed from more important tasks.  I am not sure how often we should update our learning processes, gains might be possible is power, continuing to work might be less ideal hands as a devil’s workshop.  I do believe there is the potential for the human brain to be overworked and misled, over charged – too much could have diminishing and negative returns.  Learning is not always easy, learning does not always make life easier, decisions easier – complexity should be value, should increase value, complexity increased is not always value added.

That said I think it is worth constantly putting feelers out, searching for improvements in learning – AI might stumble across some gems without us even knowing – some gems might exist that are hidden that might make all the difference in our lives.  F is give up, don’t give up, keep searching, keep trying, hope might be right around the corner.
