Matthew 5:44 (ESV)
Love Your Enemies https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew%205&version=ESV
43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet only your brothers,[i] what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48 You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Thoughts on how men like to punish each other and assert dominance. Loving your enemy – might take the form in giving to them and treating them good regardless, or might take the form of punishment. If your enemy does you wrong and you don’t punish it, will they meet someone stronger at a later date that will punish in worse ways? Potential for false reliance on can get away with that with a Christian, set to can get away with that with others that are not Christians in the future.
We pay for and reinforce the system that we turn up. Taught to not do something wrong early is a blessing not all children get – not all children have parents – not all Children have enough love and support in their lives – choices with greater consequences not always the greater blessing.
That said if you have World Leaders Christian or not – trying to punish each other might be taken with high offensive, and sometimes punishment and judgment is likely to be made from less than ideal comprehension. Blessings and grace might be the safer route at times.
Problem with punishment is it brings in a power struggle for dominance which is not always a blessing, not always curse free, not always future curse free.
