Content Creation Thoughts

Part of the value in content creation is content created today facilitates capacity tomorrow.

One engineer does nothing for a month.

Another engineer builds a car.

The engineer that builds a car now has a car to drive around in, they also now have a car that could crash, has to be parked, has to be stored.  The car has potential to be enabling, the work the engineer put in has potential to be useful for the future – yet is not a guarantee.

No car might equate to less to maintain and less to store.  The same mentality could be used to never invest.  Any document one writes today might have to be defended before others tomorrow.  Any painting one paints has potential to be misinterpreted and misused at a future date.  Investment today will less than ideally enable the future might equate to seeing zero investment, laziness, and apathy as the ideal choice.  

Less fielding of tasks is not always more capacity to field tasks in the future.  The engineer that built the car over the month has knowledge of their toolset – they know which tools work, which tools might be broken, which tools might need to be replaced.  More use, more involvement is surface area, and there is value in surface area of time and details.

The engineer that builds the car over the month period has kept up their work skills and work ethic.  Imagine another project is given to the engineer that didn’t work over a month and the one that did.  The new project will likely be easier to the one that has been recently investing time and effort.

Keeping the mind active is important – some truth to if you don’t use it you lose it.  Skills aren’t metal but they do have the potential to rust, and be less useful.  Employers likely would prefer an employee that has recently used their skills in a current project vs one that hasn’t used the relevant skill for years.  Thus skills unused rust, rust in a way that reduce their capacity to generate value and resources (the value they add to getting a paycheck).

The engineer that worked for a month also had surface area in time of solving problems, and potential for thinking of ways to improve process.  One that is not involved in the process is unlikely to be spawned and inspired to think of new an innovative ways to improve the processes and problem solving at the current time in history.  Technology and current day and age drastically change capacity – mankind has show constant precedent for swiftly changing capacity – no flight and no space travel to able to put a man on the moon, no computers to supercomputers to supercomputers enabled with AI.  Technology is progressing swiftly and recent involvement facilitates capacity to adapt and address new changes and technologies.

Thus it is wise to appreciate hard work, consistent involvement, and remind that situation and station in life can change swiftly for the better.  No jackpot to a big jackpot – breakthrough discovery or amazing update to process is possible and is always possible.  Gains are useful if one has the ability to run with them and adapt them to an ever-changing, ever-evolving future.
