Two computers I am currently using
AMD Ryzen 9 7845HX vs Apple M4 8 [cpubenchmark.net] by PassMark Software
The Apple M4 has faster single core processing. It’s power usage is less than half that of the Ryzen chip I am using. The M4 works surprisingly well with Blender while maintaining a battery life.
I haven’t tried a rendering test – the Ryzen + Nvidia vs the M4 likely has some trade offs. Capacity to get allot of the way there on an Apple M4 then turn up the rest of the way with faster processing likely has value. More time less leveraged by batteries has value.
Also been impressed with the advancements in power banks and solar panels. It would be nice to be able to have solar panels that are at 200W capacity that could easily fit in a backpack – though that might be a bit of a pipe dream. Portable free power is huge, maybe find a way to use a bike chain (not sure if it would be taken away by the city) – less of a big deal if you have a car or somewhere to store it. Maybe get some of the small 40W solar panels and find a way to add them to add them to a combo series (5*40W = 200W).
