Reminder no money makes transportation much harder – walk miles to a DMV with less food is not all ideal. Get a transit pass or Uber with no money isn’t really possible – might be serviced that provide Uber or Lyft for homeless free of charge, if not it might be nice to incorporate.
Reminder Golden Rule do it for you might not be ideal capacity to know how to do it in the future – give a man a fish vs teach them to fish, and relevance in a society of large populations and specialization.
Some might think teaching homeless to be stronger by not helping is the true way to help them know how to fish in society. I don’t really agree with the mindset – lots of careers, shouldn’t have to be only one type to get help as homeless.
Can’t say after a long work week I would want to serve meals in the blisteringly hot Texas sun – that said I am glad someone does it.
Living life I never really thought I would be homeless. I will say experiencing homelessness or working at shelters might give knowledge on how to preserve through the storm later like if I was homeless again in 2045. 2045 will be different times with a different set of problems – homeless in that time will likely have some knowns and unknowns. Less homeless now might equate to less damage less harmed by future economic storms. Hopefully there will be no homeless in 2045 might not have been my exact thoughts in 2000 but truth remains progress if possible for the better of all is desirable.
Homelessness is a problem, problems can be fixed, not all problems are ideally fixed might lead to apathy pushed to a problem the future can fix with greater knowledge, tools, and resources – ifs short term divest.
I am free and don’t want people to be slaves – why do community service? There is profit in it, might not always be easy to see. Value things like communication and connection, things that factor into relatable might be somethings worthy of pondering. Surface area in time and communication are wins, losses, problems, problems fixed – all useful, access to useful is not a guarantee. Like if nobody helped me during these times – these diagrams and documents wouldn’t exist.
