Caution: discussion on a Christian topic
Should man fear God?
Should man fear a system and power that can’t be fully seen can’t be fully comprehended and could be used by anyone or anything?
Imagine a rattlesnake. Dangerous and venomous, can kill with a bite. I would fear a rattlesnake, might want it killed before it hurts a child.
God requires love with all heart and soul. Is the fear inspired by a rattlesnake the same as the fear inspired by God? The snake got Adam and Eve to sin, God kicked them out of Eden. Potential for no wars if neither the snake, Adam and Eve sinned, or God kicked them out.
God is a fish deliverer or a snake deliverer?
Not sure I could love God if I thought the one that claimed He would give a light burden, rest struck me with lightning bolts when I walked into church. Didn’t do this right so better throw on a few curses, health problems and demons to boot – now they will really fear me – not really what I would expect from God, Christ, fish over snake.
If fix may A fee, if don’t fix may A fee – it might inspire why fix at all. If God doesn’t have to live up to Golden Rule in dealings why should I? Supposed to love God believe in God but love doesn’t demand its own way. Too much Job (book in Old Testament) on repeat doesn’t really give feeling of A love, A prayers answered.
Maybe love is fear, leadership by fear is love? Can’t say that has A-ed history. Might even venture one to think God and The Bible isn’t real but a set of writings in times of oppression for survival. Fear authority but love authority but love doesn’t demand its own away be continent in the logical nor adding up because adding up might A the oppressors. Prayers as requests made behind the scenes to authority, or those trying to fight oppression? If there is more too it might devalue just as easily increase value.
Nature Tornadoes for instance are big, scary, a force that man can’t always fight can’t always predict, can’t always escape. God parted the Red Sea,, tornado that wrecks things might be set to God when it could be the devil, or just part of God’s creation and the laws of physics. Lots of instances of storms in nature, one instance gets set to always God seems unwise. Yet man or woman might pray for rain and God might listen, or planes might seed the clouds. Water falls from the sky, source is less than ideally discernable.
Fear God as a subtle sideways reminder don’t mess with the Church or you will regret it? Combined with don’t judge and you won’t be judged? Might lead to less people speaking up in Jonestown and Witch burnings – Fearing God mislabeled seems wise. The people of The Church as the embodiment of God, prayers not answered set to if you want something done you got to do it yourself?
Should one Fear God or disbelief in God? Belief in 10 Commandments and forgiveness, grace might inspire less fear. If God wanted to be feared why tell people not to hurt each other? To I think God seen as love is more valuable than fearing Him. Hard for me to love based on fear and oppression, both amplify distrust at least in certain scenarios. Still might fear a tornado though.
You go hug the monster that kills children. God set to a monster, something like a rattlesnake should be hugged, God of love as responsible for killing children all seems less than ideal.
God might capitalize on villain is more lovable at times, requirement to love your enemy is often times harder and thus people that like challenges tend to invest in? God just being a bad guy so you spend more time with Him? Doesn’t really resonate with not demanding own way.
