Trump’s defunding of NASA would be catastrophic
I like NASA, Engineering, and the idea of Space Travel. Staying at the top of the Space race equates to more power both militarily and learning wise. First access to new discoveries is powerful.
That said I have spent more days on the street than I would like this year, and I also have seen others in bad conditions stuck on the streets in the middle of the Texas summer. We say Global Warming is a problem yet we don’t provide AC Air Conditioning to all citizens. How would it change things if engineering companies and NASA adopted NIMBYism to keeping people off the streets? If a bunch of the people not really protected by the system were outside the gates at every space launch, would engineering companies and NASA be forced to see?
I have a MS in Computer Engineering, I have invested in World Peace, I have invested in AI and trying to build a better future. Lots of different AI in the World, yet if none of them can actively invest in keeping people off the streets in real ways, will it really be sufficient support for the future, is it really sufficient support to claim driven by pure intentionality rather than profit margins?
Space Travel and New Tech can be a win win for society. By 2025 we should have figured a way to make that a reality in my opinion.
