Well ow (pain and evil that is partially in by society that isn’t fixed, does not appear to be likely to be fixed anytime soon, does not equate to not a problem)
People are taught not to judge. Those same people walk past lingerie shops in malls. Those same people see strip club signs on billboards. Less judgment is consequential, that said our society has shown precedent over time for not fixing problems that might not be ideal for future generations.
Homosexuality, fornication, and adultery all limited more substantially in current years will likely factor into and facilitate less of those sins at a later date – future generations. What we set as NBD – no big deal is consequential, and it is so ubiquitous, so just a part of normal everyday life and culture society gets numb to the idea change is possible, or change is even desirable at times.
Porn and pictures, movies with nudity have potential to be used in non ideal ways by society, might turn up potential for other sins. It would be nice to say The Devil, Demons, and evil can’t have a stronghold in society, especially in the place of less clothes and nudity. Images and addiction might lead to less sharing, less open and honest sharing in society might be thought of as inconsequential, yet the effect might lead to less support – as Christians that believe in Golden Rule want other citizens to have more support, this is consequential.
If gray area always had easy answers, easy comprehension it might be less harmful to invest in. That said a clear compass, clear direction in life has potential to be taken for granted. Gray area has potential to complicate other parts of life. People that go to national parks and want to bask in the beauty of nature, might be able to do that better if they don’t invest in gray areas yet likely don’t always think about that before investing in gray areas.
Add in war and peacetime, leverage of other parts of life like finances have potential to be complicated. If a city hits hard economic times, people want to invest in those that are close to gray areas, or like investing in less risk? Drinking a glass of water is an easy choice because it is not a gray area – simple, hydration is required for life. More simple choices, straightforward choices have potential for being freeing – and as a Christian that cares about Golden Rule, I want people to be more free.
