I support Israel’s right to protect itself.

I support the United Nations path to a safer future including renewable energy, more equitable accessibility, and mitigating risks of artificial intelligence.

Having degrees in Engineering and being from a military family (while not being in the military myself) I am reminded of the fact that the world didn’t always have machine guns, until it did, didn’t always have gas chambers, until it did, didn’t always have planes that can drop bombs on little girls, until it did.

The future progresses forward to new ground, new technology – and that technology is used in care flights and also bombs dropped by both allies and enemies. There was war before 1900s, there was war after 1945, there was war after Vietnam, there has been war after Iraq and Afghanistan.

The World has a tendency towards war. The Bible says blessed are the peacemakers. Peace leads to blessings, likely to also lead to improvements in technology, improvements that as history has shown precedent for will be used by both good and evil.

Improvements in technology will equate to power. Power seen will likely lead to desire to protect. Only one country used to have a nuclear bomb. A future where we all don’t die of radiation sickness and cancer sounds both ideal and not what this world drives toward.

Having nuclear weapons really a blessing or a curse to future generations of countries? I don’t want to spend years in purgatory after I am dead accounting for all the sins of less-than-ideal leverage caused by power, access to power, less than ideal distribution of power including financial power. The Bible says Be Perfect and James 4:17 Knowing and not doing is sin. Haven’t felt like Christ has given me ideal clarity on the matter.

Does South Africa’s leaders care about the hostages taken in Israel, the brutality they are still potentially facing? Does South Africa’s leaders care about a nation’s sovereign right to protect itself from terrorists and threats? If gangs take hold of your city, just chalk it up to a loss, pave over it, set those that try to fight it to genocidal? Doesn’t seem like the right course of action. Israel has a right to protect itself, and history has proven it has need to.

Hamas and Hezbollah, Iran attacking Israel sends a message to the world that is not good.

Russia attacking Ukraine sends a message to the world that is not good.

Small problems don’t always stay small problems.

A clear message to the World – I want peace, prosperity for all and F fucking with our allies is A.

Imagine going to pick up your children from school and from a building there are 3 men with RPGs firing rockets into your children’s playground.

Now imagine you are surrounded by enemies that constantly do this, and you have the chance to call in an air strike or not call in an air strike. Protecting Children requires hard calls, stressed calls, fast calls. Hezbollah and Hamas are no light threat.

If you call an airstrike, and if you cared about your children being protected you likely would – the next day you would probably hear about how there was an orphanage of starving children in the building. This might or might not be true, the enemy would like to destroy your PR ability to protect yourself. The enemy firing at children would likely see no problem with launching their attacks from places where children are at risk.

Could Hezbollah or Hamas have chemical weapons, distributed by Iran? More possible than desirable in this day and age, not defending self, allowing terrorists to control your country, leave your country constantly ravaged by war is an unacceptable path to give to anyone, let alone people that experienced genocide in the past.

Less weapons accessible and available and Less hate speech toward Israeli citizens allowed in advance, reinforced by the World, World leaders would likely lead to less likely to get to that point.

Israel set to monsters for trying to protect its citizens when surrounded by enemies this far after 1945? Status quo of let until they all get carted off in trains again? Unacceptable makes sense.
