Border Crisis Thoughts, June 18th, 2024

We hear the same news reports year after year. We hear the same reports about cartel violence year after year. I don’t know to what extent Texas and border states pay for the influx of immigrants, yet reduced support network, taxed support networks when we are already deeply in debt (at least from the information I have), combined with capacity for some people to profit over others in society at substantial amounts raises questions at time.

Questions like who God cares about, why God cares about them, who He answers prayers for and who He does not.

We have capacity to build Supercomputers, Supersonic Jets, and Rockets that take people to Space, yet a problem that has potential to reduce security, support, and stability for our system and government has remained unfixed for years.

I don’t want people fleeing violent situations in other countries left outside to starve so to speak, I also think setting precedent for laws don’t have to respected is not all good. Imagine an immigrant migrates illegally breaking the law, then a prison guard that is supposed to release him also breaks the law and doesn’t release him. Laws not followed as a useful system is consequential not always in ideal ways. I would like to say our system will be trustworthy with that yet our system is not perfect, and people that care can’t be everywhere at once has potential to be put to test in non ideal ways. A stressed system is not always a more just system, a less just system is consequential.

I am not sure everyone in the country would want a 50% increased tax to make sure all those illegally immigrating are protected, yet how much is the tax to all the border states, 50%? Golden Rule, treat others as they wish to be treated, reduced support network for those fleeing persecution in combination doesn’t sound good. Add in US Debt worldwide, fact that productivity gains like computing and AI might limit access to jobs, are we really setting up the future in ideal ways?

Potential for child labor issues accompanied by failing not fully supported infrastructure. Economic powerhouses like the USA profit from less-than-ideal investments in reducing global warming, really blame everyone that wants to drive north?

On a different note, I have had to switch to using a Brita filter and water bottles in Dallas, TX – preventing Flint, Michigan round 2 being ideally invested in in 2024?
