I see someone do something, hear someone say something gets equated to I know why they do something, say something based upon our own associations, memory, and life experience. Learning is possible gets equates to learning is likely, plausible, gets turned up in ideal ways.
The more painful it is to learn something there is higher potential for divest. Opening mind to new possibilities might be uncomfortable, changing very fabric of reality and knowns has potential for too painful to keep investing.
People want to learn, and people do not want to be made uncomfortable to the point they are to distracted by the negative to continue learning. People learning have many pieces of the puzzle. This gets upsold to they have the worst pieces or best pieces of the puzzle. Being taught math people don’t want to think about how math is used by evil governments to number people, yet that is one of the puzzle pieces associated with math.
If the math teacher taught the elementary school class while teaching 1+1=2, 1+2=3, 1+3=4 etc. that math is also used for genocide, they would likely be fired on the spot. Not all pieces of the puzzle are wise to show up front, are wise to give on the spot.
The combination gets set to high school and college, people and teachers are likely to give all puzzle pieces upfront, puzzle pieces that might be earth shattering and game changing. Yet if they did would people invest in learning enough to maintain current systems, stop problems that are currently in the system? There are reasons to inspire buy in, those reasons might not always have the learners best interest at heart.
If I purchase goods, am allowed to live in relative peace and harmony I might be less likely to want to hear about oppression, oppression that is in by design, that I don’t know about, can’t fully comprehend or perceive, and that lack of desire to look at and hear might equate to reinforcing it in less than ideal ways. There is a cost in learning that status quo is not all status quo. Knowns from my perspective is not all knowns doesn’t sit well, desire to be less disenfranchised from knowns leads to action, potential divestments from learning is consequential.
People are unlikely to always challenge what they learn does not equate to learning that might be established less than ideally is not consequential. If there is a sign Danger don’t go in there, people are likely to divest in advance. Divesting in advance might be high value added in most cases, not all cases. Imagine you break into something for good reasons, or at least good reasons from your perspective, but then are taught what you missed, how you got it wrong via years of punishment. Higher buy in costs does not always lead to challenged at a future date. Textbooks, textbooks that Teachers rely on get set to ideal, students learning from them get sets to ideal – challenging, finding other sources to verify takes time and effort, time and effort that is not always valued by teachers or students.
Our world relies upon knowns and throughput based upon less than ideal verification of facts that factor into learning, we figure if there is a problem with training we will know, will know in a timely manner, will know what we don’t have right that is in our current memory and associations. There is a cost in knowning A level knowledge is not all A level knowledge.
If something is too hard to read, hurts too much to read is it likely to lead to more people learning or less people learning? It doesn’t matter if what is stated is true, more pain, truth that is more painful does not always lead to greater investment. People are not required to perceive, comprehend, and factor in truth in ideal ways. 10% facts that lead to 90% divests likely less valuable in many cases than 90%-10% facts with 99% investment. We factor out the most painful facts to increase throughput of teaching and learning is likely not always entertained as possible, plausible.
Better experience turned up factors into what is learned and learning. Art teacher that teaches how to create beautiful results, or teaches people to paint the worst things in life? Results factors into factual throughput. Never Say Die, there is Hope!
