Progress might be greater than my level of comprehension, problems might have grown with increases in technology and population greater than my level of comprehension
Thoughts on Numbers
If a problem has 100,000 deaths it is likely to be flagged greater than a problem with 1000 deaths. Yet 1000 deaths is monstrous. If there is a problem with 100,000 deaths and another with 70,000 the higher number might get considered and the other number set to tragic but there are bigger things on the agenda to worry about.
Imagine we lose 1000 people at the US Southern Border a year (finding the real number is difficult). 1000 deaths a year is close to October 7, 2023, Pearl Harbor, and September 11th, 2001 numbers. Is the response on par with the value in lives lost?
