Thoughts around Reducing Hostages taken in the first place

I have never interviewed or talked to anyone that has taken hostages – I am not an expert. I do care and wish there would be less hostages taken in the future. I have never been in the military or party to hostage negotiations. I can make guesses at why someone might take hostages.

  1. useful and valuable
  2. appears as only option, no way out
  3. religious extremism (thoughts of Jones town)
  4. revolutionary reasons, desires to push government demands
  5. Antisemitism and Racism
  6. Sexual Exploitation
  7. Tough economic conditions
  8. Proximity
  9. Think will get away with it
  10. Less appreciation for what freedom lost looks like, devaluing oppression
  11. Comprehension seen as ideal, thinking plan couldn’t go south

Groups that might take hostages

  1. Islamic and Religious Extremists
  2. Cartels
  3. Crime Organizations
  4. Human Trafficking Rings
  5. Child Labor
  6. Rogue Research Organizations

Reducing Organizations, problems and power vacuums in society that lead to joining groups that might take hostages could factor into a future with less hostages taken. Turning down reasons, and reasons seen as valuable, useful might lead to less hostages taken in the first place.

All these groups exist for a reason, I can’t say during my time on this Earth I have turned down or try to turn down those organizations ideally. I have known some are a problem yet I have not always known how to battle, or challenge the status quo. I buy products, yet I can’t say for certain, or even check products I buy against a known organization for verifying it does not reinforce those groups – Better Business Bureau might do something along those lines, yet I am not sure.

Never Again sounds good, that said I am not sure in this World at least in 2024 and the foreseeable future it is likely to still be a problem. If the World gets set to all angels, organizations that protect might not be around when problems happen.

A fire that might take self or someone close at some point in the future? I would like to divest in advance if possible.
