Don’t kill, don’t steal from Ten Commandments is not required to be taught. The idea morality is always taught by default given a system that vastly under supports many seems unlikely.
That said playing favorites with Religion gets into slippery slope. If Wicken had a 10 Commandments, would their Commandments be allowed to be posted in schools?
System wants, needs the value added from Religion yet has to ride a line of how inclusive it is of those religions.
Further Religion is a part of life, many people base what is fair and what is not fair based upon Religion. No comprehension at how people arrive at their thought processes seems unwise to turn up. Even if you don’t agree with a Religion or its Premises, not comprehending how people in that Religion think has the potential to limit life and opportunities in real ways.
Society required to be inclusive and not discriminate based on Religion claimed is different from delivered.
Fostering a society that does right by each other is far from a given. People don’t always agree on everything is a bit of a understatement. Doing right by people, Golden Rule, easy to turn down, hard to turn up right.
Before Christianity? Imperialism and War common (Roman Soldiers), Slavery and Fights to the Death common (Colosseum), corrupt governments commons (call Governments that profit from Imperialism, War, Slavery, and Fights to the Death as corruption free?).
Humanity is not capable of that in 2023 can wrongly be claimed. The future always moves forward? World War 1 is done finally time for Peace. World War 2.
